|State Fact Books Launched on The Jockey Club's Website|
The Jockey Club has published a Fact Book for the past 20 years as a statistical guide to the Thoroughbred industry in North America and is now, for the first time, making available state fact books as online statistical guides to the Thoroughbred industry in 33 states and Canadian provinces.
“In recent years, we have received a number of requests from industry stakeholders and others for state or regional information from our database,” said James L. Gagliano, president and chief operating officer of The Jockey Club. “Our state fact books have been designed to provide a number of racing, breeding and sales statistics for specific states and provinces over the past two decades to assist state and provincial Thoroughbred industries with education and lobbying efforts.”
The state fact books, available at no charge within the Publications and Resources section of jockeyclub.com, provide more in-depth state and provincial Thoroughbred information than is available in the Fact Book and Online Fact Book.
Each PDF book contains sections devoted to breeding, racing and auction sales, with data provided by The Jockey Club, The Jockey Club Information Systems and Equibase Company. Statistics within the Breeding section and those pertaining to the racing performance of individual foal crops will be updated on a regular basis.
The Breeding section includes Annual Mares Bred to State Stallions, Annual State Registered Foal Crop, Foaling Area of State-Sired Registered Foals, and Conception Area of State-Bred Registered Foals.
The Racing section includes State Racing Overview, State-Bred Racing Statistics by Racing Year and by Foaling Year, State-Bred Starters and Starts — In State and Out-of-State, and the Percentage of State-Bred Earnings by Racing Area.
The Sales section includes Auction Results for State-Bred Weanlings, Yearlings, and 2-Year-Olds.
The Jockey Club, founded in 1894 and dedicated to the improvement of Thoroughbred breeding and racing, is the breed registry for North American Thoroughbreds. In fulfillment of its mission, The Jockey Club provides support and leadership on a wide range of important industry initiatives and it serves the information and technology needs of owners, breeders, media, fans and farms, among others.
