|TrackMaster Announces Winner of Mobile App Challenge, Availability of Winning App in Android Market|
TrackMaster, an Equibase Company, today announced that Bill Torre of Prattville, Ala., is the winner of its Mobile Application Development Challenge.
Torre’s app — the TrackMaster Pocket Handicapper™ — is now available for free download from the Android Market.
The TrackMaster Pocket Handicapper processes a vast amount of proprietary ratings and statistics for both Thoroughbreds and American Quarter Horses, including power ratings, Equibase® speed figures, Equibase class and pace ratings, jockey and trainer statistics, and sire and dam statistics. It also features full PDF past performances.
“I’ve played the races for many years and I have a similar passion for developing apps,” said Torre. “When I read about TrackMaster launching a mobile developers challenge, I was immediately interested. I worked closely with the TrackMaster team, and I’m very pleased with the way the app turned out.”
“We initiated this challenge on the heels of a similar and successful promotion for website product development in 2010, and it’s been encouraging to see the enthusiasm and expertise of the race fans who participated,” said TrackMaster Vice President Jim Vanderbosch. “With the TrackMaster Pocket Handicapper, we are one of the first data providers in the industry to provide customers an option for this emerging technology. We look forward to expanding the reach of this app to the iPhone and, eventually, the iPad and other tablets.”
Developers from throughout the United States signed up for the challenge. Each was furnished with sample data from TrackMaster Plus (extensive entry files) and TrackMaster Charts (detailed results files) to design, test and optimize their apps for use in mobile devices such as smartphones with the Android operating system and iPhones.
