PARI-MUTUEL HANDLE
Pari-mutuel handle, or the amount of money wagered, on Thoroughbred racing in the United States in 2007 experienced a nominal decline from 2006 while combined North American handle also decreased slightly. The off-track sector accounted for 88.7% of U.S. handle and 88.3% of North American handle, both figures essentially flat from the year before. Since handle peaked in 2003, U.S. and North American handle have dipped 3.0% and 3.1%, respectively, through 2007.
